Book Haul

Recently I went paperback shopping. I wasn’t planning to, but I saw this shop…

Untitled

This is Blossom Book House in Bangalore.

Awesome place for all book lovers who don’t mind spending hours in a bookstore. It has so many books that you might get lost in it. The above pic is just one of the many nooks in the shop. It has both new and secondhand books. I especially loved the secondhand book collection since you buy more with less.

Here’s my haul

So, next review is probably going to be one of these. If I don’t buy anything else in the meantime, that is… 😛

Ciao!

Eroticas!

Okay, I confess… I succumbed to reading erotica. Well, free erotica … which were in the romance section. Oh, I knew what I was reading from the beginning, thanks to the many reviews on Amazon. But still, I went there.

You know how it goes. There is no story, or a minimal storyline, and lots of sex. To be honest, sometimes the “bedroom” scenes are so frequent, I just skip it. Instead of giving you separate reviews, I’ll just combine the three books I read: The AgreementWhat Wendy Wantsand The Doctor’s Secret Bride.

I know, it seems like I had too much time. Quite the contrary though. I had very little time and even less inclination to commit to a story. Hence, this happened more out of boredom than anything else. (Isn’t that what always happens 😛 )

So let’s start!

Oh no, they didn’t! (Duff – the movie)

So they absolutely changed the whole thing! I did a review of the book quite a while ago… I had mentioned that the thing that initially got me interested in reading it was that the movie trailer had a LOT of comments stating that the book was completely different. So I just wanted to know how different it was whenever I ended up watching the movie…

Read the Book or Watch the Movie? Holiday 2014 Edition

Catalyst:

Every year, Hollywood saves up its big, epic dramas to release at the end of the year—all the better to catch holiday film-goer’s attentions and line up their offerings for year-end awards. Many of these titles are often based on award-winning or popular books, which prompts the age-old question: Is it better to watch the movie or read the original book? To save you time, we’ve taken the liberty of analyzing this month’s prestige openings to suss out if the cinematic adaptation does the literary original justice.

Wild (December 3)
What’s It About? Reese Witherspoon stars as Cheryl Strayed, a 26-year-old woman who decides to hike the Pacific Crest Trail after her marriage crumbles in the wake of her mother’s sudden death. Jean-Marc Vallée (Dallas Buyers Club) directs this adaptation of Strayed’s 2012 best-selling memoir.

Coming Soon…

horns

I just finished reading Horns by Joe Hill. I found out about this novel only because I saw the trailer of the movie based on it starring Daniel Radcliff. And the trailer was so interesting that I had to read the book. Good thing I did, because it is really good!

More on the book soon!

Here’s the trailer…

It is certainly very different from Harry Potter!

Update on 06-Jul-2016: I can’t believe I never got around to watching the movie until today! The movie was fine, a bit dragged out in some parts. I can now say that the movie seems more interesting than the book though…

The BookBucket Challenge!

So, turns out there is a new challenge making rounds on social networking sites. I was nominated by my friend to list ten books that I love. If I had more time I would’ve made a better list. But I don’t have all day to post the list…

Deciding on just ten books is tough, but here is the list I made…
